Okra and ladyfinger are the same vegetable. Known scientifically as Abelmoschus esculentus, it is commonly called lady's finger in British English (and in India/Pakistan as bhindi), while the term "okra" is used more widely in the United States and the Philippines. Both names refer to the same green, seed-bearing, edible pod.
